This is probably a terrible idea, but I had a brainstorm that if we leave Monroe promptly at 8AM it should be possible to do a long (no worse than Astoria) one day shot to Grand Coulee Dam. Until very recently the largest thing ever built by human hands, the dam is certainly something to see and the roads there and back are fun to drive. It is 4 hours or less to the dam over Stevens Pass, giving us a few hours sightseeing/lunch there before returning with possible dinner in Leavenworth. August would be a great time for this (world's best cherries at roadside stands north of Wenatchee) provided all air conditioners are in working order. I'd like to hear what the group thinks. Vince is required to lead, of course.
