Hi all,
Great site youve got here
Im looking at buying a 2005 X Type Diesel Sport that's going cheap. Its got 77k miles, full elec leather interior, dvd/satnav, but no service history
What do you guys think? Is there anything to look out for with this model?
Thanks in advance for replies.

Get a CarFax report. It probably won't show much other than how many owners and annual inspections, but it can show bad stuff (airbags deployed) if that kind of thing did happen. The seller often pays the few bucks that it costs to get the report, but it is still worth doing yourself (for peace of mind) if they won't.

Hey there nexo...welcome to the forum.
05 sounds good as most of the bugs worked out by then.....Is it the 2.0 or the 2.2? The 2.2 is quite a bit more responsive than the 2.0....quick car with really good fuel economy too.
At that sorta mileage if its been looked after its barely been run in....I regularly used to put 160K+ on 3 year old Mondeo tdci diesels from new and hammered them up n down the motorways with little or no problems.
They use the same tweaked uprated unit in the Jag I believe so thats all good.
Depending on where you are, get a carfax report and or a trained mechanic AA / RAC or whatever to do a once over.
All the best

Usual wear signs I guess.
extreme brake pedal wear, do the seats look lived in? Shiny steering wheel thats felt hands let it slip through their fingers a million times as well as the obvious scuffs n scrapes that tend to come with higher mileage cars.
Good luck
