Engine problems Codes
I have an 02 jaguar x-type 3.0 in the morning "cold start" the engine seems to tremble as if it does not have enough fuel. and the engine light blinks on and off. When i rev it a litle bit to see ifit would warm up it pulsesand says" cruise not available". When the car is warmed up the enginelight goesoff. Then whenI'm drivingand tryto make a fast accelaration the engine ligth came up pulled the codes and got the following P1000, P0171, P0174 need some help thankyou.
ness, sounds like you have an intake vacuum leak. With our cars, the most likely suspect is the vacuum line running over to the brake booster. From there, check the other lines for any signs of degrading rubber/cracked hoses. If in doubt, replace. Vacuum line is cheap. If that doesn't fix it, then you may have some dirt on your mass air flow sensor.
Hope this helps.

OK THIS SHOULD BE STICKIED, JIM, YO JIM YOU UP????

How much should these things cost? My local Jag dealership quoted me: IMT O-rings $5.32 each
PCV hose $15.41
Brake booster line $83.97
And will I blow my engine if I dont replace these things now? Thats what the guy at Auto Zone said when he pulled the codes from mine. P1111, P0174, P0171.

Queen, the brake booster hose, I would run to the auto parts store and get some vacuum line that is the same size. for the whole run, should only run you like $8. Same thing with the PCV line. That should run you worst case another $5. Then all you have to do is cut the line to fit (very easy, a simple box cutter is all you need). NOrmally the hard part is getting the old line off of the fittings. For that, simply cut along the line to give you more room and be able to peel the hose off. Getting the hose to twist on the nipple helps too. So, twisting the hose first will get things loose.
As for the o-rings, haven't messed with them on this car. So, someone else will need to help you with that. But, as I recall, as long as you have some basic mechanical skills, replacing them is easy. Granted, the price sounds a little bit high to me for those o-rings.

Queenmb, those look like the right dealership costs. Perhaps Ken or someone can come up with a bit better deal for you.
Chris, for the cost I would stay with the Jag PCV hose. It's been specifically updated due to the splitting problem. As well, it has slightly different diameters on each end if I remember which makes it a bit harder to replace. The Brake Booster hose has a check valve built into it and that is usually where the problem has been. Simply running a vacuum line without it may cause a problem unless the check valve suits no purpose.Again, the replacement line has been updated because of the past failures. Many have replaced the IMT o-rings with local parts store stuff but for me, sourcing less expensive alternatives wasn't worth the $9 in savings.
By the way if ANYONE needsthe replacement Brake Booster hose, I've got an extra. Brand new, from the dealer. PM me and we'll arrange, otherwise I'll put it in classifieds.
