Amber: The first things that come to mind are an old battery or a bad battery cable.

Let's start with the battery - our X-Types are hard on them. Check the glove box to see if the former owner left the receipt (a common practice for warranty coverage). Also, most batteries have a 1/2 inch circular, colored sticker on top with the month and year it was manufactured. The older the battery, the more it's the suspect. I don't know where you are, but in the Texas heat where I am, batteries last only 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years.

Most auto parts stores will load test the battery for you, and confirm your alternator is working properly.

Or if you have a multimeter and want to learn how do these tests yourself, do an advanced search of this forum: click the word "search" in the top middle of this page, then "advanced search", then search for X-Type posts by a member named "Thermo" with the words "battery" and "multimeter". Thermo gives expert advise on batteries to many people, because it's a common problem in our X-Types. Include the word "cable" for Thermo's advise on how to test your battery cables (another common problem). Add "alternator" for guidance on how to confirm your alternator is working properly (a less common problem, but a possibility).

Let us know what you find. There are many good folks in this forum who will help you. The more info you provide, the better the help you will receive.

P1632 - Smart Alternator Faults Sensor/Circuit Malfunction
P1603 - EEPROM Malfunction
P1000 - Rediness test not complete(Usually shows after an OBD reset)

It probably means that you have to change the car battery!
