Default P1699 and P1638

Hi everyone! I am creating this thread because although there are some other thread like this mine is a bit different. My car doesn't start in the morning. Only after I haven't started it for a while such as overnight. When I stick the key in the ignition and turn, just the lights come on and but no cranking. After I wait between 5-7 minutes. I try it again and my car starts. Sometimes the engine light comes on sometimes no. But the check engine light doesn't stay on for the entire day. It goes away after I start and shutdown my car about 3 times. I took it in and found the codes P1699 and 1638. My dashboard light that shows the mileage dims and brightens every know and then. Also the volume of my radio fluctuates slightly every now and then too. I need to know where to go from here and what I need to start looking at. Starting small/inexpensive and going big/expensive is preferred.

Lotion, based on the codes that you are seeing, it is leading me to believe that you have a problem with the CAN Bus between the A/C module and the ECM. Have you done any work by removing the glove box lately? If so, I would start there and see if you happen to pinch any wire bundles or the like in that area. After that, I would be doing a hand over hand of the plugs going to from the A/C panel (center of the dash) to the ECM (engine bay, by the cabin filter). The problem can be anywhere along that line. Because you are getting the A/C Can Bus code, I would be leaning towards that first as the ECM is downstream of the A/C panel when you start looking at the Can Bus.

Lets see what you find with this initial inspection and then we can go from there.

No work with the glove box but in order to inspect the plugs and wires, can you give me some info on how to remove the center console. It sounds like a fun and tedious procedure. I am well trained in wire repair so hopefully it's somehing I can fix

A five minute video for getting to the stereo but it gets you where you want to go also.

Looks pretty easy.
