Project 3M Di-Noc Interior Carbon Fiber
So I just ordered 4 square feet of Di-NOC for about $25 shipped. Looking to cover every wood piece. Need to figure out what to do with the shift knob still. I plan to take lots of pics and provide detailed explanations of what I do. Good news is that its easily reversible if I hate it.

Will be very cool if the install is done with great detail and time consumption! (it's you, so I assume it will be fine LOL)
I recently added a black gloss kit to my black and carbon fiber interior, and i LOVE it! There are pix of it in my 'Garage' section of my User CP if you'd care to peruse and either insult or applaud :icon_wink: Oh, I also have an S-Type 'R' shift knob in mine, would definitely have continuity with your sportier theme... |

WOW I've been thinking about doing this for SO long. I just wondered how funny it would look with my tan interior. But I'm so stoked your doing this and can't wait for pics!

I just got some of the CF textured vinyl in yesterday. planning on covering up some parts on the bike. Going to see how that comes out and may get some more for the car. Does anyone know if i need to use some adhesive to stick it down, or should the sticky backing be sufficient?
|
^ I believe the sticky backing should be sufficient.

I dig it.. in for pics. Are you going to have to remove the wood pieces to wrap them properly or can you do it while they are still on?

Wow ! that really pops , nice one .

So the mod ninja came out again tonight. Started at about 9:30pm and finished at 12:30am. The nice part was the main bezel pulls straight off. Everything looks factory-applied and the black is ominous and vaderish, but nice and theme appropriate. Shift knob should be here Monday or Tuesday, but I covered the wood one with Di-NOC for the hell of it (took about 30 minutes just for that experiment).
Here it is before: http://upload.karbon12.com/files/4/beforedash.jpg Bezel pulled out. You need a Torx T25 to pull the vents from it. I'm thinking about XJ vent analog clock mod... http://upload.karbon12.com/files/4/bezelout.jpg After. I started with the airbag and did that still on the dash. Used a paper hole punch to make a perfectly little round hole to view the airbag indicator light. http://upload.karbon12.com/files/4/afterdash.jpg Here is one of the four door panels. Did these without removing them. http://upload.karbon12.com/files/4/doorpanel.jpg So this takes some patience, a heat gun, razer blade, credit card or similar to press film into gaps, a picking tool to scrape little pieces of cut vinly out of gaps, small screwdriver and good lighting. This film is mega thick and order at least 6 feet of it. I eeked by on 4 feet, but I had to get creative in the end. Aside from crappy pics, what do you think? Keep or remove? |
Great job, definitely an improvement. Its flows a lot better with your black interior.
|
Now thats a clean mod. I like it. For not removing the side panels, It looks just as clean if your were to take them off and wrap A+ Job bro.
Did you contemplate wrapping the screen's housing/climate control housing? I think if you did those it might (might) be carbon overkill. Daytime Pics coming ? That will be the icing on the cake. My Vote is to Keep The Nocturnal Ninja keeps it clean. - Dave |
Keep it!

A+ Mod. Keep it.
Excellent work J. Have you thought of painting the stereo fascia black to blend in with the leather? Or you want to accent it? |
