Hello guys,

I took my car to an axle rebuilt shop I trust to have them look at my propeller shaft to figure out why my car sometimes vibrates when I am accelerating and then let of the gas and accelerate again. They said this is the culprit:

They said they can rebuilt it if I find the rubber bearing (?).

Is this the part that commonly makes these cars vibrate like mine?

Thanks!

Spike, yes, that is the infamous prop shaft bearing that everyone talks about. I would say to first grease the bearing and see what you have at that point. Then determine if you need to replace the bearing at that point. Normally if you catch the vibration early, a little bit of grease will get things back to 100%.

I should do this to my car before it goes bad. Found the needle adapters on ebay pretty cheap. Need to get a grease gun and a jack too though.

So THAT is what a nine year old car looks like without rust underneath. :D It needs to drive around the north east for a bit and get it properly seasoned, Mark.
Wow that is too clean. :)
Let me know when you are ready for a new car...ones from Texas are just what we need here.

Thermo Can some one please confirm that when the bearing slides down the prop shaft(aft) does it easily clear the balance weight on the end of the prop shaft shaft or does the balance weight need to be removed and relaced?
