Shfiter noise, Help!!!
 

I have an 02 2.5 x type. Everytime I push the brake, I get a loud non stop clicking noise from the shifter. Whether its in R N D or any gear. Any ideas? Thanks

I get this sometimes too! Mine isnt too loud, but its noticeable. My dealer told me that I shouldnt be concern, but to call them when or if it became louder and I noticed a change in shifting.

It's the brake switch and interlock mechanism in the J-gate. Just about every X-type does it.

Thats right its the brake switch and interlock solenoid.Common problem.

Sweet. Can I buy these parts seperately ( if so, where?) or do I have to replace the whole gate? Thanks

Jim, you still up? Im passed my 1am cut off time for my much needed beauty sleep.Will post some pics tomorrow of a Jag meet I was at tonight all sorts of Jags were there..E Types,Mk2s,XJ,XKR, and X types there + quite a few more.
