Tc job failed
 

I tried I really did I have a 2004 jag x 3.0 tried to flush the tc but I could not even get to the drain plug, there is not much room to fit the ratchet idk what to do I want to do this my self because I am not going to sell the car I'm gonna keep it until there is nothing a can do to fix it. I used the smallest extension I could get which was a 2inch and dint have any space put it in. Any help is apreciated.

Hmm, how many tools do you have? Maybe you need to borrow a friend's set or buy more. Getting the plug out was so easy that I don't even remember what wrench/socket I used. The overall job is annoying, but not difficult by any means. Keep trying, and you'll get it! The key is to have the right tools at your disposal! :)

Now I partially remember - the drainplug socket is square and requires you to slip in an extension. I must have used the smallest one I had and then slid the ratchet on after the extension was inserted into the plug. Maybe I used a swivel extension? Sorry I can't remember the exact details, I just went through my tools until I found what worked...

I will be flushing the transfer case again soon, so I'll be doing this all over again. I'll be sure to take notes this time, but really it's an easy job.

A ratcheting wrench set could be your best friend.... those are wonderful my friend, there worth the price.

Like I said its a 2004 and I believe o4 and up have way less space to get the wrench in there I was trying at least 30 just to try to get the damn thing in there this sucks I was confident on doing this but I'm disappointed,

Next time you're under there, would you mind taking some photos for reference? I'm curious to see the difference between 2003/2004 clearances. Is there any way you can get the swivel extension into the plug and then angle it down so you can get just enough torque on it to start inching it out little by little? Maybe use two swivels if you need to?

Have you seen this thread? He also has a 2004 and was having the same problem. Maybe he figured it out, since he never posted an update.

Ok guys this morning I went to the auto parts store and bought a flexible extension and I went under the car and It did work and at my lunch break I went to home depot and bought an elbow to make this work and next week when I'm of I'm gonna give it another try.
