Bought the car two years ago w/ 92K on it. It now has 125K. The last six times I have filled it with gas, right out of the gas station, I get a dead pedal when accelerating to around 50pmh and eventually a transmission fault. Forcing me to pull over and restart the car to clear the error. I put a diagnostic reader on it and got a P2407 friction error. The local mechanic says, replace the transmission. The local Jag dealer says, they won't service 10 years old cars anymore. I was thinking of changing the plugs and using some fuel injection cleaner. Any help is greatly appreciated....?

I would service the transmission first and see if that fixes it. Your way over due for a fluid change unless it has been done in the past.
Seems that error code has to do with the EVAP emission system. Charcoal canister and pump assembly maybe.
Don't know what a friction error is?
Is that the only error?
Erase it and see if it comes back before doing any repairs.
