I expect this has been done to death, but I am fully aware of the Ingenium being very fussy on OIL..
Yes we all know it is 0W 20 Castrol Edge..There are so many variations of the same... C5 LL V etc. all with subtle differences..
There is a Shell Helix ECT C6 etc. etc. Liquid Molly and so many more..

I have been reading and reading and am no clearer...
Is it really so very specific.. as I read that JLR 5006 is the same as an oil labelled C5 ..
So is a C6 oil better or not suitable..Bearing in mind, it will be changed every 6K miles..
What is the real consensus of opinion please...

As the very specifc Edge variety is not always easily obtained..

It would be good for a full set of good alternatives, to make life easier..I am in UK with 33K on my engine!
This would help all concerned..

 

I've been using top tier oil brands 0W-20 syn for my 2.0 25T Ingenium gas/petrol engine. I do change the oil every 5K miles and had often used engine oil without JLR specs in it. Well, if I'm going to follow JLR's requirement of 16K mile extended OCI then I have to use the oil that has JLR specs written on the back of the oil bottle. I don't know about diesels which is predominantly popular in EU and how it affects the engine if you use engine oil without JLR specs. Here in the states Jaguars and Land Rovers, majority have gas.pertol engines.
