Hello,

2012 XF 5.0NA Base model

Chip inside the keyfob has been damaged on the spot where the prong supposed to be (a small metal prong that touches the side of the battery), keyfob can not be powered by the battery.

I am planning to bring the car to the dealership to get new fobs & programmed, but want to avoid towing it.. Closest jag/LR dealer is approx 100 miles away.

Is there way to start the car with key-fob that has no battery in it? (literally NO battery inserted in the fob)

I watched some videos demonstrating starting Jag XJ or F type with batteryless keyfob, but can't find one for XF.

I can open the door with Tibbe key, alarm will go off for awhile, video says it should stop if I place my key at the right spot (regardless it has battery or not), but I cannot find the spot. I pushed it into the fob hold slot nearby driver's knee is at, didn't work.

Anybody has experienced this kinda situation..?

I have found a local techy guy, he managed to revived damaged chipset somehow! ))
