I haven't ever used a forum before and read the rules in advance, so please excuse me for my naivete if I fumble this. I can't find anything online that addresses this strange occurrence. I have been using my garage door opener fine since I bought the XF almost a year ago, the GDO still works for my wife's remote and the portable remote that came with the GDO. For no visible reason, the XF stopped opening the garage. When I went to reprogram it, I noticed that none of the three LEDs in the rear view mirror assembly even illuminates. Is there a battery in the rear view mirror assembly that requires batteries to make the GDO work or is it wired and simply defective? Thanks for your input.

 

No batteries in the mirror. If there's no blinking lights, I'd look for a blown fuse...

 

Thanks. I just realized that lights 2 and 3 are actually working so it's not the fuse. I programmed it to 2 for now. 1 is just dead. I think I need to take it to the dealer to have them check the wiring for that spot.

 

A lot of those "buttons" are really just rubber conductive pads so if you've been mashing button 1 for a long time, the contacts may have become corroded or dirty - if the dealer can look at it great, otherwise you may be able to disassemble and use some contact cleaner to restore the function. But at least you don't need three garages opened ;-)
