2013 XF V6 Supercharged High RPM start and a couple other issues
Hello all, I currently have a 2013 XF supercharged v6. The car has been amazing for the past 3 years very little issues besides new tires, brakes and rotors. Out of nowhere a week ago I turned the car on and it revved all the way up to 3k RPM before going back down after it was put in drive. I cleaned all my sensors real well thinking it was the two throttle body sensors and it went away for awhile. But it came back (not as bad) but with some codes thrown. I got my friends scanner and there were around a dozen codes....Ill list all the codes.
Is it time to trade in my baby or is it worth attempting to fix these issues? The jaguar dealership near me seems to be one of the worst places ever to take a car. 1 star review with hundreds of awful comments and reviews most of which are extremely in depth with a lot of proof. The next closest dealership is 200 miles away but has a lot better reviews. Any advice, help, technical info would be appreciated.... I have a lot of mechanical ability, but as these cars become newer and newer my knowledge and ability become less and less useful it seems. Thank you everyone for looking. Are you stilling having this issue?
I have a 2013 XF also and my car just started the same issue of High RPM's at startup. ack's like a vacuum leak, but don't think that is what is causing the issue since it goes away.

Had similar codes.....P2187/P2189 but my idol was fine. When I turned the vehicle off (in my garage), there was about a 5 second loud air/blowing whine. Indy said it was the PVC Valve Cover cap part of the valve code assembly? Showed it to me with the rubber gasket split causing too much air. Replaced it and all set now. Did not need to remove the valve cover / supercharger etc as they feared.

I will check, I had the Supercharger pulled last year to fix the coolant leak. Hopes minor.

Having the same issue. They are saying it's the passenger side gasket cover. Cost to fix $2300 - $3300

I have gone from air box all the way to exhaust headers and cannot find any leaks, vacuum nor exhaust. I gambled at the maf sensors being bad, but now it just have new mafs and same issue. I was going to try o2 sensor up and mid stream and see what the latest does. for the person who posted about the pcv gasket, can you point out that component? I find. I can’t find it in my service manual, and we have the same engine I believe. |
I got rid of my car, but from what I remember, my Indy quoted $2000+ to replace the valve cover. Then when the part was in, they noticed that there was a cap on this part and that my cap had split, so they just took the new cap and were able to replace mine without pulling the supercharger and doing all the labor. Ended up being less than $500 for the hole deal and they gave me the valve cover to keep for a rainy day. I'm assuming this cap (kinda looks like a gas cap) was part of the valve cover assembly.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think the AJ126 has a pcv valve. I do not see one on the diagram in the workshop manual, and I don’t physically see one on my vehicle...

I think it was the orange rubber gasket under the cap that split, letting in a ton of air and causing my issues. I think there's more info here:

https://www.amazon.com/Cheriezing-Va...a-815748620876 you do need to remove the cowl, wipers, the vacuum tube from the throttle body, and carefully place some other smaller tubes out of the way. It is difficult to remove the existing pcv cover and diaphragm without damaging the outer plastic cover. Mine was quite brittle and the slots that catch to the tabs on the cover brake as I was trying to pry them up. But the unit attached to the valve cover is solid. overall a pita but not difficult with some patience. My diaphragm was ripped at least 50% around the circumference as you can see. thanks to all who pointed me in the right direction. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...9d7da6b4d.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...c7aa18e43.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...d6c5dfe5e.jpeg |
Yep, looked just like mine... needless to say this was like the 10th expensive thing that broke on my under 50k Jag which is not longer my problem. Hope this fix lasts....

so I am happy to report that the pcv valve can be replaced without removal of the supercharger or valve covers.
