Default Air Inlet tube C2Z17820 AJ126S 3.0SC

Pt Number C2Z17820,

https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic...take-tube.html

At the grand price of £223.50 for a plastic pipe.

They are even on Ali Express, Cheaper. But Why?

There must be a market for them, and looking at mine now its off, Indeed there is.

I have often wondered why there is the Rubberised Silver cover glued onto the air inlet tube where it meets the Throttle body.(excluding the clamping area and the Jubilee clip which is nearer, hotter, and soaks up heat)

It all starts to make sense.

Air inlet tube, directly above a 100deg water pump with a unprotect stainless steel jubilee clip to gather the heat and impress directly into the plastic clamp landing area on the throttle body.

Brilliant, , Possible mechanical damage, & heat stress each time you change the air filters, remove for maintenance tasks,(highly unlikely) for Air leaks, & engine codes to be generated.

No error codes, or messages, But could not have been far off. Before the crankcase PV valve gets the blame again.

Please see a few snaps below, to explain the above.

What have we here, plastic breaking off the landing area to clamping clip.

Close up of the hard, breaking plastic tube looking onto the SS clamp.

another ...Close up of the hardened, breaking plastic tube looking through, onto the SS clamp.

The damage was directly below, at the 6,O'Clock position on the air inlet tube. Worth checking the next time you have it off, To coin a phrase.

Thin Silicon rubber sheet 25mm wide x 2mm thick, glued to the throttle body clamping area and electrical amalgamating tape wrapped over the air tube, and clamped for now.

Until I can come up with something better.
