Default Diesel Particulate filter

Hi guys just getting used to my 58 plate 2.7 XF and going well.
I realise that the DPF does generate quite a bit of heat but actually how much heat is present under the floor of the motor.
I did about 20 miles or so today and when parking up on the drive there seemed to be a smell of burning paint coming from the underside and I assumed this to be the heat from the filter.
The sort of smell you would get after a new exhaust had been fitted.
Just to put my mind at rest is this a common feature or not?
Had nothing come up on the dash with regard to regen so thinking this must be ok or not.
Can you assist.

Pete

Yes, when a DPF regen happens you get a smell a bit like burning rubber, this is quite normal.
