E Brake Fault
I recently had a fault in the E Brake on my 2015 XF AWD Portfolio.
The brake threw an intermitent fault one night where the brake wouldn't release and then would release.
Unfortuately I had to drive the car several feet in an attempt to release the e brake. When I got the brake warning I also got additional warning on a number of other systems.
I had the car towed to my home at 3am and noticed the next day that I was low on brake fluid. I filled up the reservoir only to find that I had a leak and all of the fluid leaked out under the car.
After that I discovered that car wouldn't crank due to low brake pressure. Pumping the brake pedal hard I was able to get the car to start. I dont have a large enough garage to diagnose where the leak is coming from and will have to have it towed again to a repair shop.
If the e brake sticks is there some kind of safety release valve
or would I have just blown a seal on a brake caliper or at the master cylinder?
The local tow company was familiar with an AWD Jaguar car so I know that the tow was done correctly.
The car only has 26,000 miles from new so I'm not sure if the brake pads will need replacing and are not easy to source locally except at the local Jag Dealer (*******) which based on past experience will cost a kings ransom.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and luckily this is not my primary car so I am not in any hurry to get the car fixed.
