Higher Mileage XFR
Could use some help evaluating a deal...
Been trolling around for a '10 XF SC because the XFR was beyond my price range. However, an XFR just popped that has 65K miles with 2 previous owners. The second owner purchased the car at the 35K mile mark with the CPO 100K/6year warranty, which travels with the car. Car has a clean record with CarFax and Autocheck. Color and interior are very much to my liking. Car posted for $40K at a Toyota Dealership nearby.
Yes the mileage is high, but miles put on quickly are almost always highway miles and much easier on the vehicle. The CPO warranty adds huge value here in my mind, knowing that it went through a thorough inspection at the 35K point and I've still got 35K balance on the warranty.
Talked to the dealer on the phone this morning, they just received the car as a trade-in and were going to sell the car at auction tomorrow. I got the sales manager on the phone and he pulled the car so I could come look at it tomorrow. He says it is immaculate. In the course of the conversation it became very clear they aren't used to handling cars of this class.
I put down a refundable deposit to reserve the car and will be going over first thing in the morning. Assuming it test drives well and holds up to inspection, I plan on buying it. It seems like a great deal, am I missing something here?
Cheers,
- Will

Find out when the original sales date is, that will be the date the 6yr period is based off of.
If you only want to keep this for 3 years, and the car is in good shape, don't fear the mileage as it will be takin care of by Jaguar until the warranty is up.
If you like it, buy it. 40k is a good deal with the CPO.

Just got back after a long day of driving to and from Tampa.
Car is cherry. I could not find a stone chip or scratch anywhere on the exterior. On the interior the seats look new. Two small scratches on the passenger side interior and a few minor indentations (but no scratches) on the wood covering the twin cupholders. Driver's floormat shows moderate wear, also one of the keyfobs is a bit worn. That is it. Unbelievable this is a 65000 mile car.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find the car fully loaded, with suede headliner, backup camera, adaptive cruise control, and lighted sills. Car drives great, although the brakes are a little grabby. Eye popping power, found myself at 100mph on the on ramp during the test drive.
Dealer confirmed they just want to get it off the lot. They were also completely unaware that it had the 100,000 mile bumper to bumper CPO warranty.
Drive home was a pleasure. Could not get the Bluetooth on my phone to sync with the car, will investigate that further. Reviews had said the adaptive cruise control was intrusive and annoying. I did not find it so, instead it was intuitive and very well implemented.

The brakes are very grabby, just takes a few days to get used to that.
The key fob rubber face and chrome side loops are replaceable for cheap.
I replaced the chrome loops on both mine for $17 a set. And that is from my overpriced dealer markup.
You can also get a "rebiuld" kit on eBay that has both loops and rubber face.
Super simple to swap out.

Oh I pounced!
Now I have to wash all the bugs off from the 150 mile drive home. Keeping this car clean is going to be a problem... I'll always be driving it!
