Default My xfr make a clunking sound please HELP!!!!!

I have a 2012 xfr with 77k miles and ive noticed when the car is warm and u shut it off then restart it in about 5 min it makes a clunking sound.it goes away after like 1 min after restart or if you rev it to 2k rpm it goes completely away. When i do a cold start no clunking. Also when i shut it off it makes that same clunk. Ps it does not change the sound with rpms so i dnt think its a rod or valves i also took the oil cap off to see if i can hear it coming from there but nothing has anybody have this happened to them.

It sounds like (no pun intended!) you have a worn supercharger coupler, aka torsion isolator. When worn it "clunks" quite loudly on shut down.
Search the forum for info on it, and also see here: How to replace an Eaton Supercharger Coupler : SuperchargersOnline, Worlds largest Supercharger Resource. Get Serious About Power

I don't know for sure, I never had this problem on my XFR, you should search this forum and read up on the problem, and maybe someone else will come along to explain better.

In the top right corner there is a Search Forums box.
Type "torsion isolator" (with the inverted commas) into it, then click on the little magnifying glass symbol.
It will bring up heaps of threads, some for the XF, some for the F-Type, some for the XKR. Browse through them and you should find what you need to know.

After doing more research i found that if it was the coupler it sounds like marbles moving around in there mine sounds like a constant knock but i also noticed when i did the pulley upgrade the supercharger had a lot of play when i moved it from left to right i dont know if thats normal
