I have been tracking down a coarse rattle from the rear of my 2008 SV8 and have located it at this electronic component that is mounted to the underside of the floor panel above the differential. I looked through the workshop manual to see if I could find any diagrams of how it is secured so I could properly solve the rattling but after scanning through all 1,088 entries of the phrase 'control unit' I did not find it. Can anyone identify it for me? There is a long plastic gizmo with an electronic gadget mounted at the right-hand end. The electronic unit is rattling in it's mounting. it appears to be secured only by one of those trim clips with the plastic philips-head screw. I am planning on withdrawing it and adding some adhesive-backed foam to kill the rattle but it would be good to know exactly what I am dealing with. it is- like most things on this car- very difficult to access. And to photograph.
Probably charcoal cannister for the fuel evaporative system as part of emissions. They are different depending on market location, yours looks like c2c26577.
Thanks, it's the gadget stuck in the end that was loose- there's a label on the top side of it that says something like
pump control unit' so perhaps it's the brain for the fuel pump just mounted in the end of the charcoal canister. It was loose so I packed it in with foam and there's still a rattle back there somewhere, driving me nuts. Might be the canister itself as you suggest.
