No lights, no instrumentation, no crank - security?
This morning, the door would not open readily, I had to jiggle the handle while turning the key right to get it opened.
Then, when I tried to start it, there are no crank attempts at all.
Could this be dead battery or security feature engaged?

Checked the battery level, and it measured 2.3V
I have posted a picture of how I took measurement [red arrow is the 12V and blue arrow is what I used as ground].
1. Looks like I have to use a jumper from another car. What is a good location to clip the ground portion of the jumper cable?
2. The car has been sitting for a few days. Is it necessary to disconnect the battery when it is going to be driven for a while?

Obviously you should have full battery voltage at that junction post. That is, the reading there *should* be the same as what you have at the battery, perhaps minus a tiny voltage drop.
So, almost certainly your battery is dead. Way dead.
Or you have a supply/wiring problem between the battery and the engine bay.
So now you have check voltage at the battery itself and, if sub-par, take action as required.
When/if you determine the battery is good....and if you're still having problems that require tracing out.... you can then check for voltage at the various downstream junction posts.

Jaguar recommended jump lead ground connection is to the trunk lock post and positive connection directly to the battery terminal (assuming you can get the trunk open with the key as the battery is flat).

I cannot get the trunk open, it looks like I have to jump start it from the engine bay +ve connection and some ground. Do you know of a safe ground in the engine bay?

I was able to jump start the car from the engine bay.
I initially thought the startup issue was due to the immobilizer being engaged.
Should have tried this first, before messing with the trunk lid.

I hope everything is working after your jump procedure. It is much safer to connect another battery to the engine compartment, then open the boot and jump start at the battery. You can cause damage to electronics by doing it from the engine compartment.
This time, everything is working. I will jump start at the battery next time, good advice, thanks.
