Default Washer motor and sensor

I have a1996 xj6 the washer pump or sensor is not operating. How do I get access to the reservoir so I can check what the problem is? I have read on the forum that you need to remove the bumper. ..... I talked to a jag mechanic and he gave me the impression that all you had to do is remove the spoiler that is attached to the lower part of the bumper to gain access. ????? Thanks

I've moved your question from Canada Region to X300 forum.

Members here with the same model will be able to advise how to access the washer pump reservoir.

No need to remove neither the bumper nor spoiler. The bolts for the washer reservoir are accessed from beneath. Laying on the ground on the right (passenger) side looking skyward, you'll clearly see 3 10mm bolts on the sides of the reservoir securing it. Simply remove those bolts and it's free. You'll need a 12 inch ratchet extension to reach the bolts.

You can also access it by removing the inner tire cover from the front passenger tire. It will give you access to both the pump and reservoir.
