Default 4 year 75K mile warranty guidance

Greetings Jag Fans,

After a little more than 5 years, I just traded in my 2010 XF for a pristine 2011 XJ with 12,500 miles. I still have about 6 months of original warranty left, but I was looking at the Jag extended warranty. I saw the thread here about a 6 year deal, but my local Jag dealer in Indianapolis said that Jag only offers a 4 year on my car currently. Based on current mileage/condition, they are quoting about $3K for the 4 year/75K mile option, which would be plenty for me.

What does the forum think? Does that seem reasonable? Other threads discussed about $4K for 6 year/100K miles.

Thanks in advance!

Do you drive a lot? I would never buy a warranty that I will run out of "time" well before miles.

Wow that is cheap, over here the Jaguar extended warranty last March for my 2011 XJL was in the region of £1200 for one year !!
I did some hard negotiating and they got it down to £860 for me as I called Jaguar customer services and explained I had been driving their cars for 28 years and been a loyal customer etc etc.

I'll probably put about 10K miles per year on it this car (I have a MDX for utility stuff and a Maserati for sport stuff). I know it was a value on my XF even though I was 40K miles under the 100K mile limitation. I had them replace the dash leather in 2014 and that was more than the warranty cost alone. They may have a 50k option too. I'll check, but the cost was only 500 bucks more for 100K miles versus 75K miles so I do not anticipate a big money difference.

$3000 for 4 years = $750 per annum. This is £500 so I would say it is a good deal if you want peace of mind. However, look at what is covered very closely. I assume you never had the "roof popping" problem, but your proposed new purchase might have, and it is very labour intensive to fix. So this needs to be covered, in fact I would specifically ask about it.

I've never purchased an extended warranty for anything until I got my '12 XJL Portfolio. I bought my XJL in Nov. '14 with only 7300 miles. I got the Jaguar extended warranty this past July and had about 12,000 miles. Mine is not a daily driver so I probably won't get beyond 30,000 miles; hope to move up if still living to a '17 or '18 Jaguar.
Your price quote is similar to what I paid. I'm pleased to have this extended warranty just in case the need for using it may arise in the future. I'd say get it but I'll look for my paperwork to see when my warranty expires and get back to you.

Thanks for the feedback. Good stuff. While I never had a mechanical issue with my XF, I did have some electrical/interior gremlins from time to time (driver's side seat heater/cooler motor burning out), leather dash glue breaking down, etc. Those easily would have cost more than the $3K in total that I would spend on the warranty. But I always had peace of mind, which is worth some money too.

I use my MDX as the daily driver in the winter (which should save the wheels), but it sounds like $3K is a good deal. I'll reach out to one or two more dealers to make sure, but I'll probably pull the trigger on this after the new year. Thanks for the help!
