Default Brand new XJ - steering wheel shudder

The wife's new (~200 miles) XJ has a slight case of steering wheel shudder - i'm guessing from flat spots on the tires or out-of-balance wheels?

Question is: should this go away after a few hundred more miles or should i let the dealer fix it (presumably under warranty) ?

If it's brand spanking new, best to take it back to the dealer. Yes, it could be flats on the tyres if the car has stood for some time, but it could be something else ! What size wheels ? Large diameter wheels/very low profile tyres tend to show up tyre and wheel faults.

They are 19", and not low profile (at least not like on my XF) .. I guess we'll take it back..one of the door handle covers/caps has a bunch of stress-cracks in it so i guess they can take care of both..

Wife's developed same issue. Idiots at dealership in Indianapolis said the tires were bubbled and it was impossible to balance out they were so bad. $24 and a 15 year old Discount Tire tech later, smooth as silk. Hope you have a better dealer with tires.

I too had the same tire symptoms on my recently purchased new XJ. I suspected either a flat spot had developed on the left front tire while the car sat, or it was an out-of-round tire.
A quick trip the the dealership service department confirmed my suspicion. Plus, they had Jaguar approve the replacement of BOTH front tires - as neither existing tire would balance out properly. I am quite pleased with how they handled this claim.
