Actually it's not what it sounds like - it was strictly voluntary.

As you no doubt are aware, some states require cars to display a license tag on the front of one's car in addition to the standard one on the rear, and some states only require the one rear plate. Nevada has a strange law wherein if your car has a bracket for a front license plate, then you are required to have a tag in front as well as on the rear of the car. However, if your car does not have a place for a front tag, then you aren't required to have one. And since I believe that there is universal agreement that the XJ looks much better without a license plate marring the sleek front grill, I took my car back to the dealer this afternoon, had the front license plate bracket removed, and then paid $250 for the holes to be filled in and painted.

The "bodywork" is completely unnoticeable and now my Jag looks even more magnificent then before.

And theyre required in texas regardless, but we still do not ever put on the brackets in front until requested by the owner. You can always add a plate bracket, but as youve done, its not cheap to fill holes

Actually, I did. I lived about 4 blocks from the Bethesda Metro. My wife and I retired just over two years ago and moved to Las Vegas.
