100 watt h'lamp H7 bulbs
Has anyone fitted 100 W bulbs?
According to the owner's manual both full beam bulbs are on a 20 amp fuse and they should draw 17.6 amps total. so they should be ok? Then there is the exra heat with plastic lenses? I really don't want to cause any damage. |
I would avoid it.
Even though the total draw would be below the fuse capacity, there is a serious risk that the current may heat the wires and contacts as they are not designed to carry a current practically twice as much as spec. I think however that there are high efficiency bulbs such as Philips Xtrem or Osram that provide a substantially better enlightment than the normal H bulbs with the same current. A good alternative IMO |
I like the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs for their brighter, whiter light without overheating existing wiring or plastic lenses, but the downside is that they don't last as long as standard bulbs. I probably replace them every couple of years or sooner.

I use these on mine. Great price. Same relative color temp as SilverStar. DOT approved.

Many thanks for the Amazon link-I don't usually use them because I
prefer not to use a credit card, however I will now. I see they have Sylvania Star also-these are not available in OZ. |
