Default 18" Rapier wheels chipping

Has anyone noticed a lot of chipping happening on their painted wheels? My XJ only has 43k miles on it right now, but it seems like since the 5k miles I've driven, the wheels have been chipped like crazy!

Now I do admit that I have gone through many a machine wash (I have since stopped that practice), so that could be part of the problem, but other than that, I have never scraped my wheels on any curbs or anything like that.

Is this normal? What are my options for repair?

There are several companys that refinish wheels. Most run from $150-$200 a wheel and have a lifetime warrenty. Search the net.

Any possibility that the wheel that's chipping was refinished at some point in time? I've had a few refinished on various cars over the year, and it seems like the quality of refinishing jobs can be hit and miss.

Either way, as already mentioned it should run $100-$200.

I think it's definitely possible. I was wondering that myself.
