2004 Jaguar XJR Supercharger Removal Help!
I've currently undergone the process of removing the supercharger from a 2004 XJR in order to gain access to the fuel rails to service the fuel injectors. I was wondering if anyone had a list compiled of all the gaskets I am going to need to buy for the re-install. Also, for the life of me I cannot seem to get the intake elbow off that attaches to the supercharger and sits under the throttle body. I have removed the throttle body and the four bolts that connect the elbow to the supercharger. I can wiggle the supercharger so I know it's close to coming out, but I can't figure out how to get the elbow out. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Did you unbolt the EGR valve? It will usually have to be removed to get the elbow out. Also, there are two bolts that fit into a bracket underneath the elbow that need to come out.

Just removed elbow myself this passed weekend for the second time. There are for bolts that connect the elbow to the supercharger. The screw into the baci of the supercharger therfore the heads of the books face the firewall. There are two on top and two on bottom of elbow. One is hidden right below the pvc tube nipple.
Once these for bolts are removed there can be 1 to 2 bolts under the elbow connecting it to a bracket. These point inward from the fenders. My advice is to do this in broad daylight and to remove the egr and all electronic connections and vacuum huses to see ask this. There is an electrical harness behind the elbow the is held by a nut on a bracket by removing the nut you can push this harness out of the way for more space and visibility. Also search for a thread on here title journey into the valley. Its about a forum member removing the supercharger to replace the valley hose. He lists all the gaskets you need. Replace the valley hose while you're there and if possible replace the supercharger bearings, at least the coupler and oil. Best of luck, if may seem like a lot but just requires patience. |
Thank you very much! I'll be tackling this as soon as I have the time. So many steps to remove the s/c. It's definitely been testing my patience. I'll let you all know when I get the s/c out. The four bolts have been removed. Just need to remove the egr and the bolt(s) under the elbow connected to the bracket.
