2004 XJ8 Bluetooth retrofit HOW TO
I figured I would do a write-up with all of the information (and errors) for those who wish to add BT to their 04 (and maybe 05, 06?)
Here it is, step by step: (final edits after I complete next week)
1, Have a desire for BT in your older Jag
2. Have the desire to use factory components
3. Purchase a phone module- (The black plastic one APPARENTLY does not need #4 FYI) I used the silver model PN: 2W93-19K250-AC.
4. If silver (older) module>> Purchase BTUM Why? Let me explain. The first iteration of phones with jags had a working cradle for a cell phone (flip phone like a star tac (look it up kids)
SO in order to be functional a bluetooth module is plugged in to REPLACE the function of a cradle and phone (in the cars mind) and provide a bluetooth connection to the phone module. (black plastic version does not need I believe)
5. Purchase or create a "y" Fiber optic cable with the correct cables for the system.
6. Remove the carpet in the left side of the trunk (boot) and remove the 4 10mm bolts holding the CD player and nav stack.
7. Tile said nav stack towards the spare wheel and observe the fiber connections, and a black plu g, likely taped to a wire loom that fits into the phone module
8. Plug said black plug into phone module
9. Plug Y cable into phone module, then into the stack loop. (I will elaborate on how/where next week as well.
10. Remove the rear center console vents (tug and wiggle)
11. Plug BTUM (if you have the silver phone module) into the red and black empty plug. If it already plugged in and you have the black plastic phone module, unplug it.
12. Turn car on and press the little telephone button on the radio. BRRZZZT! you say it says phone in not cradle??? Do you have the silver phone module and no BTU? See #4. You have the black plastic module? Go to settings and choose user>>country and change it. to anything else. select ok>ok then press phone button again
13. On the radio screen key in ##3#*# OR ##1#*# (different users have reported one or the other working for them)
14. It should say "Discover me" or some nonsense. If it says "Check phone" and doesn't pair or show you a "Jaguar" option on your phone bluetooth, go to #4
I Think that covers most of what I have gone through, I'll post up more and pics when my BTUM arrives.

How do I edit a post?
I received some fiber from a wrecking yard and created a "Y" connector with 1 mail and 2 female, making sure that I oriented the fiber wires from the IN part of the connector to the next OUT connector and vice versa.
I also received the BTUM (just plug it in) to go with my silver phone box and BAM workie workie. Screen says discover me and my phone shows a bluetooth item called Jaguar. It then asks if I want to upload the phone book. Ahhh. Success.
Oddly enough, the BTUM still had the old vehicle's address book, so I had to figure out how to delete that.
All is well, right?
EXCEPT the microphone didn't work. Turns out I needed to jumper wires with the voice module plug (since I didn't have a voice module)
Now. It. Works.
If I had to do over again, I would get the newer box so I could forego the BTUM and jumping f the wires. But hey, not too difficult.
