Default 2006 XJ8 touch screen blank and controls don't work then slowly activates

My 2006 XJ8 just started showing a blank (black) touchscreen on the nav system when starting up. Also none of the buttons work, such as nav, climate, audio for 5 to 10 minutes; then slowly the screen illuminates and the buttons work.. Feels like it is a relay or fuse going bad that hasn't failed yet. Can someone advise what to do? What do I test or change?
Thanks

I had the same problem. Talked to several people and determined it was the screen. Bought a used screen on Ebay, installed it, and solved the screen problem.

Sounds like the small cold cathode florescent lamp (CCFL) are worn out and drawing too much current from the supply, causing it to repeatedly cut out just after trying to strike the lamps.
Picking up a second hand display would be the easiest solution, but if you are so inclined you could very carefully dismantle your display to see the size (diameter, length etc.) of your CCFL lamp(s) and order some replacements.

Warning: It is a fiddly job to do and you have to keep everything dust free and do not mark or crease any of the diffusers or the backlight lens. Soldering skills required to remove and refit the high voltage fine wires to the ends of the CCFL lamp(s).

This seem risky operation. Changing display unit is more easy. But it's the second one that I bought from eBay and don't work. It seem in the back there is for 4 optic connexion on my original one and there on the display purchased.
I'm getting screen to some one to try to prepare it.
I noticed that DVD navigation don't working but CD charger is working.
