Great ! Impressive
but where is that crazy emetgency connecting ??? Somewhere in the rear boot or on the central console ??? Tks for your help. guy QUOTE=jackra_1;1232211]This pic shows where I installed the button switch for toggling between the available AV inputs. When the ignition is on I can switch between the rear view camera, a DVD player, and the Nav etc displays. On the right hand side in the trunk, as you look into it, I found a connector that was not hooked up to anything and it had a switched +ve 12 volts supply that I used to power the camera. There are actually two button switches the other one is a mute for my Redline radar detector.[/QUOTE] |
I do not know where the emergency brake wire is located in the trunk. It should be accessible in the center console where the brake "handle" is located since it is electrically actuated by that handle.
The reason Navtool and others say you need to connect to the emergency/handbrake wire is to prevent you watching a movie while driving. I simply linked the Navtool emergency brake wire to a ground/-ve wire so that the DVD player or rear view camera feed can be switched on with the supplied button switch which allows you to toggle thru available AV inputs including the rear view camera I certainly do not watch movies while driving. The way I have it wired the rear camera view comes on automatically in reverse and goes off when driving UNLESS I use the toggle switch while driving, which I do not. I hope all that makes sense. |
Oh one word of advice make your connections initially temporary until you are sure everything is correct. I soldered all connections to the Navtool device and used heat shrink sleeves over those connections. Other connections I used standard 3M Quick Connects.

I can imagine how much swearing has went on in that trunk of yours!!! I used a different video interface, but I don't think they're that different, in terms of what goes where, but check out my thread HERE or check out Dennis black thread in the X-type forum HERE. He used the Nav tool & has a really good drawing of what goes where. Also, have a look @this. It's the Nav connectors (diagram) & have a look @this diagram too. Page 81 (fig. 16.6) |

Have a look at these pics I took. Maybe they will help. The two THIN black wires I did not connect at all.
I found a switched positive wire on the right hand side of the boot/trunk in a connector that was spare. |
Just to get things working connect the brake Navtool wire to ground until you find the actual emergency brake lead.
It took me quite a while to get the Navtool wired in over several days. |

This is the relay I used.
The pics I have uploaded I know are not exactly explicitly clear but maybe they will help. |

If you look at the white multi pin connector at the back of the DVD player with the release tab on top then:
From one Navtool bundle of wires the Yellow goes to lower pin position 1, the green to upper position 1, the brown to lower position 2. In lower position 3 the Jaguar white lead I spliced into with the separate Navtool black wire not part of the bundles. From the 2nd Navtool bundle I wired the Blue to the yellow, green to purple, black and white striped to black, red to orange. The 2nd black I did not connect. I found out which black to connect by trial and error. |
thank you !!!!! it will be a great help for me.
just never ask anything to navtool ! here the answer they wrote me : This product is designed to be installed by professionals, who know their way around the car, unfortunately we cannot recommend where you get your power and ground source, they have a very high quality customer "after buy" service !!!:icon_bricks: |

HELLO I DID THIS PICTURE, am i right ? i surely forgot somethinghttps://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...cfef141008.jpg

If the yellow rectangle in your pic is where the release tab is located. The following colors I mention are the Navtool wire colors.
Then the lower position 1 is where you have the yellow connected correctly. The upper position 1 is where you have the brown wire connected which should be where the green wire is connected. The brown wire should go to lower position 2. So this bundle is wired into the DVD player. In lower position 3 the Jaguar white lead I spliced into with the separate Navtool black wire not part of the bundles. The second bundle is wired into the wires that were cut going to the head unit. From the 2nd Navtool bundle I wired the Navtool Blue to the cut yellow, Navtool purple to cut green , Navtool black to cut white/ black striped , RED to cut orange( ****RED from the bundle you have marked accessory***) The 2nd black I did not connect. I found out which black to connect by trial and error. |
