Is it difficult to add Bluetooth to a 2005 XJ8 and where would I go to get this job done?

Welcome to the forum Doug,

Actually you are posting in the S Type section. There is another section that will cover the XJ8.

That said, I'm pretty confident I can answer your question since the two cars have very similar electronics and actually use the same audio equipment just with different face plates.

First of all, do you have a factory fitted phone? Jaguar Voice? If you have those then you would just need to plug in the Bluetooth module in the console where the handset used to be.

If no phone equipment then you will need the whole setup that consists of a phone module, microphone, and Bluetooth module. All of those can get pretty darn pricey. To be honest, if buying the parts new, you could get yourself a high end navigation head unit with integrated Bluetooth for less money. The last time I tried pricing the parts, it was over $1,000.00.

There are also directions posted on this site that you would be able to download after you get full access. It is actually a pretty straight forward install that could be DIY. If not, any capable stereo shop could do it since it is all plug and play.

Thank you Jeff.

Doug welcome to the forum.

I moved your post over to this section. Jeff has pretty much summed it up for you.

You really should go here: New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and properly introduce yourself to all the fellow members here. Please don't forget to go to "UserCP" and "Edit Signature" put in your vehicle details ie. year, model etc...
