Hello,

I have a coolant leak coming from the top of the radiator. It looks like the male hose connector broke in the hose. Is it possible to replace the connection without replacing the entire thing?

Below is a link to a video from the leak. I'm hoping the know looking thing with a Phillips screw can unscrew and replace the connector.

i can't view your link, but my hose cracked right where it connects to the reservoir tank. i took it to my mechanic, and he suggested an entire new hose and tank. it was around $300, so for my 2003, i just went ahead and replaced it all. good luck with yours

 

Well, sorry, but no, you have to replace the whole header tank. There are no serviceable parts on the tank.The nipple that takes the small-diameter hose is part of the tank moulding. I have to say your's is a very bad example. Eventually the nipple cracks all the way round, the hose falls away, and a rapid loss of coolant results. This could lead, if not detected, to major engine damage through overheating.

Personally, I'd put on another OEM tank, but I have to agree that the life of these things is not at all satisfactory, but the tanks are not hugely expensive, being around the £50 mark here in the UK.

What model Jaguar do you have Fernando? The coolant reservoir is different between the supercharged and the normally aspirated engines.

For the SC engine here in the US they are expensive. But not more expensive than a ruined engine.

 

I found it on rockauto.com for 39.99. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

For that part to break is pretty ridiculous but I guess it comes with the territory of owning a Jaguar.
