Default Do the headliner myself or hire it out?

I like to do most of the work on my car myself, but am going to redo the headliner in alcantara. Think I should tackle this myself or just spend the $$ on a pro?

I would imagine the bulk of the labor a trim shop would quote is for removing the headliner from the car. Maybe you can do that part and hand it over to the "pros" to use their high-power glue to finish the job.

I just had mine done professionally and having done one previously myself, it was worth every penny. With new fabric, everything put back correctly and heat tolerant glue, it was around $400 from a shop I have used for decades.

I tend to agree with pearlfisher but I'm 66 with two new artificial knees so I have an easy excuse.

Still, there maybe some point in taking it out and letting a shop install the material and you do the re-install. From what I've read on this forum (there are various threads, so do a search) the major problem is getting the fiberboard underliner removed without bending it beyond it's limits as you maneuver it out the rear door.

Call me lazy but I'd prefer the shop pros be responsible for all that as well. Not to mention their advantage in material procurement and quality install with the right adhesives and some sort of warranty/guarantee.
