global opening but no global closing
I had just read something about global opening and closing by holding down the unlock and lock buttons on the key fob. Low and behold the global opening worked opening all the windows and the sun roof, but holding down the lock button did nothing with the windows - just the locks. The odd thing was that when I started the car, the powered rear sun screen went down and up about three times and then stayed down and I had to play with the overhead button quite a while to get it to go up again.
Should I have global closing as well as opening on a 2006 Super V8? |
As far as I know, there is no global closing feature from the key fob, only if you lock the car manually with the key in the door and hold it in the locking position until the windows start closing.
|
I have it on my 05 SV8 so I would suppose you should have it. Press and hold unlock on fob for global opening. Press and hold lock for global closing. Just tried it out while typing this.

I've always known about the global opening by pressing and holding the unlock button. But global closing was only achieved by inserting the key in the lock and turning the key towards the rear of the car.
I got excited and went outside to try to close my windows and sunroof by holding down the lock button, and nothing happened. But then again, I have an XJL, not a Super V8. |
Only way global closing works (if it's not a Super v8 as I see now) you do it by the key, or when in the car by holding the lock button on the Dash (same too open too)

Hi does your one touch work on your window switches

Thanks again, guys |
It works both ways from the fob on my car, although I seldom use it.

On the S Types Global Closing has to be enabled in order to work I'd imagine these cars will be the same.

Make sure all your windows open and shut on the one touch if not reset them then try global open and shut

This is true--it is a configuration option in SDD, and US spec cars had closing from the fob disabled by default. Several members on here have enabled it on their vehicles.

And here's another oddity. None of the windows one-touch open from the driver's controls, but both the front and rear driver side windows one-touch close, which seems backwards from the usual safety setup, and the passenger side windows do not one touch either direction. |
Try resetting them

Just tried it again and global opening works from the fob and global closing does not (held the button for 20 secongs). Global closing does work from the lock button on the dash panel if the ignition is in position 1, but when I first tried global closing using the key in the door I discovered my one and only fob/key does not turn the door lock. Is it normal to have the ignition and door locks be different? My fob/key does open the trunk/boot.

Global close is not enabled to work via the fob on your car (since it's a US spec vehicle) 2. The key should work in all locks, Jaguars only have one key profile. Global close should work from the driver's door with the key held clockwise for 3 seconds. 3. The window auto up/down may just need to be reset, as clifton94 mentioned. |
Have you tried some WD40 or similar in the lock? IIRC any key should lock the door.
They can be rekeyed I believe https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ylinder-69434/ |

Just run them all the way open and hold the button a few seconds longer, there should be a slight click, then close all the way and hold again and you are done.
You can do them all from the drivers door switch. |

If it's jammed up I doubt dry graphite will help.
