Default Snow Tires!

Living in New Hampshire and driving my XJR all year I will need to fit snow tires. Looking at Tire Rack, I seem to have a choice of four different Pirellis. I'm thinking of going with the Winter Sottozeros, $942 for 4. Does anyone have any input on this or a different suggestion?

In the UK I have used Nokian winter tyres for the last 6 years or so, been very pleased with them, I don't know if you have the over there though.

Well I Just had a whole post typed and my ipad dumped it. So here it goes again.

We've tried other brands and the only snow tires I've been pleased with are Michelin X Ice 3's. I've had them on several vehicles and even ran them year round. Tire wear is much better than other snow tires from my experience. Plus they are way grippier on snow and ice compared to others. We lived in north Idaho up until recently so we had a good deal of snow and ice to deal with.

We bought ours from Discount Tire Direct. We got 17x8 Coventry Whitleys, Michelin X Ice 3's, chrome valve stems, and lug nuts to fit for just under 1400 dollars. If you shop the sales you can get a decent deal. I prefer having a dedicated set of wheels so I don't have to swap tires off the same set of wheels twice a year.

I don't know what year your XJR is, but the later models have TPMS if I'm not mistaken, so factor that into price. Also, your brakes are bigger than my base XJ8, so you'll need minimum 18 inch wheels in the same wheel. The 17's barely clear my brakes.

I have pictures of them on this forum, along with the types of roads we used to drive...I'll try to link them again.

Sorry, I don't know anything about Pirelli snow tires.

Sorry for the dirty car...roads are muddy. Also, car is not lowered, the suspension had not reset at the time.

Sotozerros (sp?) are some of the shittiest winter tires on the market. X-Ice 3 for me. I also used Yokohama IG20's in the past and they were incredible. Nokians are also very, very good.
