Starter noises
Hello Everyone:
Since restoring my 2005 VP I have noticed a starter noise. After I turn the starter and the engine starts there is a " errrrrrrrrr" noise for a split second. This noise quits after the car starts and is driven for awhile. This only happens when the car has been sitting for awhile and then starts. I have taken it to several Jag mechanics and they say nothing is wrong. I was thinking the solenoid spring was going out or getting soft. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Inside the magnetic switch are two copper contacts that supply power to the motor when the magnetic switch is activated.
The contacts wear out due to spark erosion, this is the main reason for the starter failure.
In your case, it is conceivable that the burnt contacts "stick together" for a short time and thus ensure that the starter continues to run.
Look for DENSO STARTER REPAIR KIT, the critical parts are available and easy to replace.
Main problem is that the top screw of the starter is difficult to access. I finally removed the right engine mount to be able to reinstall the starter.

One mechanic told me that he thought it was some noise in the motor. Since it only happens when you cold start the car. He said if it was the starter, it would happen all the time. Any comments?
