Strutmasters, Arnott or Generic Coil Conversion?
Just came across this -- getting ready to do a coil over conversion
I have followed dozen of air suspension threads on this forum - some from 10 12 years ago.
In the older threads the Strutmaster kit was more expensive and some people suggested it was better than Arnott. As of today the Strutmaster kit is $600 cheaper and does include the Bypass module to prevent error messages in the dash.
Does anyone have experience with Both kits ?
Are they similar ? Is one better than the other ?
There is also a Kit on Parts Geek called UNITY - they are $600 cheaper than Strutmaster and $1,200 cheaper than Arnott. I know the whole adage of you get what you pay for -but I wonder if PartsGeek would carry them if they are garbage. Unity also seems to make replacement air struts - if Unity is a cheap Chinese knock off here today gone tomorrow company why would they have coils and air ? There is only one thread I could find on Unity here and no one ever answered the original poster.

OK I purchased my 04 VDP and it had Strutmasters already installed. On inspecting the struts after purchase, I found that the back two Strutmaster struts were squeaking and rattling. I called and was told there is no free exchanges after purchase. I purchased four new generic struts from Rock Auto thinking I would save a buck. The generic struts from Rockauto do not fit exactly as they should. I should have sent them back but didn't. Go ahead and purchase the Arnott. Pay a little more because it is worth it. I wish I had purchased Arnott struts on all four. I am going to buy another set of Arnotts and have them installed going forward. I have not heard of anyone that is not happy with the Arnotts.
Echoing the Arnott sentiment. That's what I went with, and I couldn't be happier. The car sat a tad high initially, but I'd read that it would do that, and it settled to a normal ride height with just a few hours of driving.
I had the Arnott struts installed in 2022 on my 2005 Super V8. No problems after approximately 15,000 miles and I'm very pleased with the ride quality. They will sit a little high at first but will settle after a day or two of driving.
