Default Test Mode on Instrument Cluster

HI

How do I access the test mode on the instrument cluster for a 2008 XJ.

I have tried inserting the key, holding in the trip button whilst starting the car, and keeping it held for 5 seconds (actually 10 plus seconds), but the display does not go into test mode.

I am actually trying to see if I can read individual tire pressures there.

Thanks

In theory it should work but I couldn't get it to work on my 2004 XJ8 either.

I have seen posts on the X-Type list where they have got it working and the TSB with instructions covers X-Type, S-Type and XJ so I don't understand why it doesn't work on the XJ's.

FWIW, the TSB from Dec 2006 doesn't mention the TPMS and that feature was introduced in the 2006MY.

2004 XJ does have it, but 2008 XJ doesn't. The tire pressure readings are not present in engineering mode. The only thing about TPMS in engineering mode is it will say if there is a fault. It will not tell you the fault, it will just let you know there is a fault in a particular module. There is also a how bunch of data, that is probably for "engineers" to understand, hence the name. I use engineering mode to access fuel tank readings, and do gauge sweeps, if I have a needle sticking on the cluster or something like that.

My 2004 evidently doesn't have it. Interesting how some do and some don't.
