Thank you, Joe!
This is like switching the light ON after poking in the darkness!

I cannot remember where I got if from now. I have loads of random pdfs for the jaag. If you do any programming you need a power supply connected to the car as any power drops can cause your car to very big brick.

Default Update

Hi everyone. There's been a bit of a delay as there's a few things I needed to do before running the TCM Update, so sorry about that.

I started the upgrade only to find I needed a Battery Maintainer that would keep the battery topped up as the process could take some time. After reading up in the instructions from JoeDredd there's quite a few occasions where the battery requires a maintainer, updates to the TCM, the ECM, and various other times where it is required... so I got myself a 25amp maintainer.

After driving the car a few times I'm leaning towards the problem being a sticky solenoid, and I'm unsure a TCM Update would fix that? I also have another gearbox that has some external damage to the bellhousing, but it was a known good box before this damage happened. If I change the Valve Block/TCM from it I would probably need to program the new TCM anyway? Do I try updating the existing TCM, or change it, and update the new TCM... there's an argument for both scenarios? Thoughts very welcome...

Thanks to all for the inputs to date, they have been invaluable.
Paul

My understanding is that once a module like PCM, TCM, etc. are coded to a vehicle, they can not be re-coded for another vehicle. At least not without getting into EEPROM level hacking.
