Default XJ8(X350) Tire Pressure

Can anyone tell me what the correct tire pressure is for a 2004 XJ8? The tire has a max pressure of 44lbs. However, when I brought it home they were at 20lbs, so I filled to ~40lbs.

The car did not come with an owner's manual and I wasn't able to find the recommended pressures in the downloadable owner's manual I do have. I've read somewhere that this information is posted on a sticker in a door jam somewhere, but have checked all 4 doors and haven't been able to find it.

Thanks,

Eric

Default Fuel Door cover.

Open the fuel door cover. the label is applied to the inside. It recommends 28-30 PSI front and 30-32 PSI rear.

The maximum inflation of 40 PSI is for maximum weight loading of the tire. Filling to that level will give you a really hard and bouncy ride and also negatively effect the handling. Follow the Jaguar recommendation for safe handling and ride.

A few months ago someone posted some Jaguar tech specs - I just tried searching and couldn't find them, unfortunately.

What I remember is that for tire pressures and some other things, the table had two columns: USA/Canada and ROW. I puzzled over that and finally surmized that ROW must mean Rest of World. Interestingly the USA/Canada pressures for my 05 XJ8L were 30/32 F/R, which is what it says on the doorplate on my car, but in the ROW column they were either 33/35 or maybe 34/36. I figure they do that on the assumption that we US/Canadian softies want a comfy ride, and the rest of the world prefers better fuel economy. I run mine now at 33/35 or more. Fuel economy is a mpg or two better, and ask me in a couple of years whether the tires are wearing OK.
