Hi folks,

Was mid-oil change today in my newly acquired 1995 XJ6 and noticed that the filter on my vehicle seems longer and narrower in gauge than the replacement filter that was specified by model search at my local (Las Vegas) AutoZone. This isn't my first Jag, but is my first 6 cylinder engine workthrough. Does anyone know if a replacement STP filter (manufacturer part # S2995) is appropriate or acceptable?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure of the STP brand, we dont get them here, BUT the X300 takes the same oil filter as the earlier 6 and V12 cars. Ryco Z133 is what I use, or a cross reference to Crossland when I can get them.

Thanks tons, Grant....

And another question as you have a similar x300 to mine. I inadvertently bumped over a curb while parking at the office this morning. Have bent my radiator core and am horrified. Found a shop that thinks repair is an option over replacement but am having trouble getting the damn radiator out. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Clay

Had mine out a few times, waaaaaaaay easier than the V12, at last. This is from memeory, haha.
Hoses off, simple.
Trans cooler pipes disconnected, 2 nuts on the pipes at the radiator.
Power steer pipes disconnected, 2 nuts on the pipes at the radiator.
Fans off, 2 X 10mm spanner size bolts, 2 connectors (1 in each fan motor). Watch out for the 2 nuts sort of captive in the raditor plastic pocket.
Unplug the thermo switch wiring.
Top panel off, 9 torx screws I think.
Lift the thing out, dont get coolant on the paint, not happy if you do.

The order is sort of in your face, and I may have it wrong up above, I think fans out first gives much better space.

The radiator sits on 2 rubber bushes at the bottom, and 2 of the same at the top, it is really that simple. First time it took 20 minutes, coz I messed around with that DUMB drain plug thingy, tooooo hard, drop the lower hose and watch the shoes, mmm.
