Car is a 95 KJ6 Vanden Plas. My Dad and I are installing new Pulkaudio speakers. The rear door panels came right off, but we cannot figure out how the front panels are removed. Anyone know how this thing comes off? Anyone have any pictures? Thanks! Any help is much appreciated.

Same snap plastic push pins as the rears, given that you've got all the screws. They can be stubborn at times. Must use the correct plastic pry bar or you'll risk breaking the pins.

BTW - you're on the wrong site for your model and MY. You should be over on the X300 site

Where are all of the screws located? We got the one at the front of the handle, but it seems there is another one at the base of the handle like in the rear.. But, the rear is different..

I apologize for posting in the wrong section. I did not know this car is an "X300". I always thought its only name was "XJ6". Please excuse me. I am not very familiar with these cars yet.

In the forums section it says....

Notice the part below where it says XJ6/XJ8, where it tells you the applicable years for this forum to help you

Mods/Admin, can you move this thread to the correct section where the guy might get some help? (with his car I mean)

Yes I did notice the applicable years! It says XJ6 on the back of the car, not X300. When we bought it it was listed as a '95 XJ6 not X300. Sorry, but I did not know this car was also known as an "X300".

X300 is a factory code development name that we affectionately use on the forums. Not your fault, you couldn't have known being new to Jaguars. You'll come to know it as time goes on.

Yes, the way this forum is organized is very confusing...

It took me about 2 years to finally 'remember' which year was which, x-this, x-that, so I tried to give some direction in the New Member sticky.

No biggee, got you moved, and now you know exactly where your car and all of its intimate details will be found in the future.

I did a door panel removal thread in the XK8 area if you want to see if your door may be similar. If not, try the JTIS CD download links we provide also in this FAQ section, that'll get you your car's most basic information, data, removal and installation instructions.

look uner the arm rest there is one or two of them there. also under the black rubber thing for the side window defrost the is a screw. other then that i think its like the back doors. also you may have to push the panel towards the front of the car to get it of in the front if i remmber right.

I'm having trouble with my front door trim too. I reckon I've got 99% of the fasteners (screws and push pins) out, but there is still one mystery fastener hidden under the back of the armrest. The whole of the lower door trim feels like it's pivoting on that point. Service manual is useless too.

just search the forum for door panel removal instructions and your bound to find a thread just like I did. be extra careful when actually pulling the panel off the door so you don't break the clips they are very sensitive

i think you have to grab the arm rest and push the whole thing forward towards the windshield to get the front ones to come off. thats just what i remmber i might be wrong. just be gentle and try it out.

I've tried that based on the garbled directions in the service manual (worthless bloody thing - anyone ever get sick of "Displace and Remove"?), but it just felt like I was going to break something.

I just found this on answers.com (of all places):

Quote:
"...It is important to lift up the panel before pulling off as there is a spring clip which goes to a plastic clip which is slotted in the door. Simply pulling could damage the plastic clip..."
So maybe lift rather than slide foward? I'll have a go tomorrow when it's light and report back...

It's 'replacement is the reversal of removal' that always gets me.

You may well find a very long screw behind the red door courtesy light. On my slightly earlier cars this light prises out (first time I ever did this I thought I would break the thing because some force is required).

Prise out the red lens to reveal the screw.

Thats what the instrcutions from JagLovers said, but there is no screw behind that cover - at least not on my Jag.

Under the door handle there is (1) screw that hold the metal trim, remove that and the wood trim piece slids forwards or backwards to remove, after that all other hard ware would accessable.

For a mystery screw location, not neccessarily Jaguar, having removed all the other bits of trim and then having popped all the edge fasteners, you should then be in a position to see reasonably accurately just where still seems to be fastened.

You would then examine this area for any caps etc, under and ashtray... that might hide a screw.

You are at the stage where only the lower half of the door card remains on the car?

The wood strip and upper trim came off OK.

There is no ashtray in the front door, and no caps apparant.
