Exhaust fumes in cabin
Hi everyone,
just a quick question about whether anyone has experienced this on an x300.
when driving along with or without climate control on (Aircon doesn’t work) I can smell exhaust fumes in the cabin, not overpowering but definitely there. I have a hole in the back box of the exhaust which I’m replacing but I think it’s unlikely it’s from the back of the car but hopefully some of you will know better!
i also had both exhaust manifolds replaced as they were cracked so it can’t be that either?
if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!

+1 Sheff. Check the blow-by hose. Cam cover to intake manifold, right on top.
Was this a problem before the exhaust manifolds were replaced? If it wasn't done right you may have your answer. In particular, the connections at the downspouts need that donut in place. Also a strain crack could have occurred along one of the downpipes while apart, that could let gases out.
Check the EGR pipe at the rear of the manifold. It is brittle aluminum. I suppose fumes could escape there too. Often times exhaust leaks near the manifolds will cause a Check Engine code.
