I'm trying to track down some replacement seats for my '96 VDP. I'm keeping an eye out for replacements, but i was wondering if anyone knew of variations in the seats between the model years?

Basically, am I stuck waiting for a 96 VDP with SDC trim, or can I look at 95 or 97 models as well?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Are we talking front or rear?

The rear seats changed for 97 year cars (all of them?) to use 3 point centre seat belt. There was a modification to the chassis at that point also for the seat belt mountings so they are not compatible with earlier cars.

Front seat mountings will be OK for later seats (even X308 use the same mounting points). You may have issues with seat belts and seat belt warning system for newer seats but these can be overcome relatively easily.

(This is from my experience of UK cars - don't know about rest of world)

There were lots of options for seats:

See Rear Seats, Trim and Fittings - Parts For XJ Series from (V)720125 to (V)812255 (X300) | Jaguar Classic Parts UK

Try and pick out what you have and see if there are any variations by VIN.

I have a 5 flute XJ6/Sovereign bench in Cream leather, without bum warmers, and there are two part numbers shown.
