Speaker in the steering column replacement (no warning or turn signal sounds)

I suddenly have no beeps or turn signal sound on my XJ6. How much will I have to take apart to replace the speaker or speaker wire (i.e. is it worth my time?).

I mostly worry of looking like a fool on the highway for long periods with a turn signal on.
And leaving my lights on overnight.

thanks!

If I have to get deep in there, I just remembered that none of the steering wheel adjustment controls work either. Could be worn cables all over the place and hours of fun.

I had to replace my warning buzzer / speaker / bell a while back.
I ordered one from ebay but it did not work, too, so
I *think* I ordered it from radioshack with info from this post :

Does the steering wheel need to come out to do the speaker replacement?
thanks.

I replaced my speaker without taking off the steering wheel. I used an old computer speaker but I did see that radioshack has one. My concern however, iirc, that the speaker was just for reminders (like headlight on or key in the ignition) and not for the turn signal.

Hopefully someone else can confirm this either way so you can have a good start having fun.

The Jaguar loudspeaker is something like 64 ohm. A little 8 ohm speaker will work though.

I bought 5 of the 64 ohm speakers from an electronic supplier a few years ago just to have them in stock for my collection of XJ8s.
Jaguar wanted a ridiculous amount for ONE. I think I paid something like $3 each plus shipping.

The diameter is 66mm @ .5 watt--64 Ohm

I replaced me with a tiny speaker that came from an old junk PC that was lying around the hose. . I removed old, spliced the wire and zip tied new speaker.
