Default Throttle body sticking

I finally have the engine electrics sorted and now I'm having some sticky throttle issues.

The XJ6 was parked for 6 months over the winter season and now it has a sticky throttle issue.

When the engine is cold there is no evidence of a sticky throttle. When the engine warms up the throttle becomes really stiff at throttle tip-in. Strangely this only happens when the engine is actually running. When the hot engine is shut down the throttle is not sticky at all at tip-in.

I know the TB needs a good cleaning but my concern is the sticky nature observed when the engine is hot AND running. Can this be put down to the need of a simple cleaning or is this indicative of a worn throttle body?

Also, can a dirty throttle body cause intermittent stalling at engine idle?

Default TB Sticking

I have the same problem with my '95 XJ6. What I did was to clean the TB with a good spray cleaner and use a good penetrant that will loosen up the shaft and any other moving parts (I've had good luck with Aerokroil). Even after all of that was done I ultimately had to add an extra spring (I can't remember if it was added to make the TB completely close or to allow opening the TB more easily). In any case, my experience was that the TB requires periodic cleaning.
