Hi I'm restoring an X300 and I have some seats from a straight 1996 XJ6. The car I'm restoring is 1996 XJ6VDP.
The difference of course is the tray table on the back of the VDP seats. Is it possible to take the seat back off from
the straight XJ6 and replace it with the seat back from the VDP with the tray tables?
Thanks
Steve

The standard XJ6 seat backshell lifts straight up as there is 2 side hooks to hold the top in
The nuts to receive the tray table hinge bolts are already installed on the standard seat
The taller backshell uses the hinge bolts to hold the top in place
There are 2 very small screws under the bottom of the backshell on both tall or short backshells

Don't forget about the spring clips on the sides, about 1/4 of the way up from the bottom!

"Having removed all the screws, now is not the time to employ brute force and awkwardness (as I did) and yank the cover from the squab like it is a recalcitrant turkey leg at Thanksgiving dinner unwilling to separate from the rest of the bird. Rather, you should push it in toward the seat, and spread the sides outward to disengage these clips, located low on the sides:"

Fortunately, I had some fake J B Weld left over from my https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...repair-102377/
to reattach the one that is supposed to be here:
