Default Anyone upgrade the J gate to a tiptronic shifter assembly?

Since it's an MB trans and the TCM is MB I'm sure it would be feasible (don't confuse with easy) to swap in a Tiptronic shifter assembly.

I've been looking around and reading some MB boards and apparently some MB guys do it as MB cars didn't come with that mechanism till about 2001.

So, apparently the EGS51 has to be swapped with an EGS52 at the same time to work with the new shifter assembly.

Now the big problem in that scenario is that the parts are $$$, which I'm not willing to dump into a 15 year old car.

However, I've been doing more digging and cars such as 5.7/6.1 Dodge Magnum, Charger/ Chrysler 300 come with the same 722.6 trans, EGS52 TCM and a tip shifter assembly. They are cheap as dirt since they are dime a dozen so I'm sort of itching to see if I can make things work.

Anyone tried something like this?

GO 4 IT!

There are cars that have the tiptronic conversion here in the UK, mainly XKR's - Norman's had this before going the manual box route. Avos might know more...

I've read they're slowish - but it'd be worth testing the system out on one of the cars you mention first and seeing if it's a desirable conversion before setting about it?

I have had the Racing Green Cars Speedshift in my car now for 5 years & love it. I recomend it to everyone as that combined with the blue top solenoids make the shifts much more crisp.

It would be great if we could get the people that had it done chime in.

I am told by Keith @ Racing Green that I have the only one in the US. So it may be hard to find people that have done it.

Do you think that RGC Speedshift is actually developed by Arden? If you look af this old video ( early 2000 ), you can see that they already had exactly the same product ( Arden sequential shift ). RGC is reseller of Arden.
