Does this just press out from back to front? or is there another way to do this properly?

Thanks in advance :)

It comes out the front on the AJ-16:

I should think it would be the same on the V-8. Not sure if you can drive it out the back or not - I know the AJ-16 doesn't have a lip and you can drive it all the way through on installation if you are not careful - in which case, as the Marines put it, you've "(screwed) yourself!" With the front cover off, you won't have an issue if you go too far or if the little spring pops out the back - much easier fix with the cover removed.

Just take care that your front cover is supported evenly all the way around - you don't want to crack a piece off trying to drive the seal out.

I don't recall any lip. I drove it out back to front using a large socket. Just refer to your picture when driving the new one in.

Push it out either way, I just use a big screw driver and the palm of my hand, putting the new one in is where you have to be careful
